Unfortunately, most of the building we’re in severe disrepair This apartment block was shall we see….ultra low income housing Victorian Hotel Kids at the corner of Mahatma Gandi and Hospital Roads. Yes, Gandi lived here in the years when he was a young lawyer – temporarlily emigrating from India Restaurant exhibit at the aquarium Shaka Aquarium…. Shaka was a famous Zulu Chief who lived in this area Durban Beach on a cloudy day. Yes, they do get White Sharks! Point Yacht Club – Durban, South Africa Agulhas Buster… This boat (what a portent of my future) had an accidental gybe en route up coast from Knysna. A severe hand injury and a broken boom. Commemorating the discovery of Durban by Vasco Da Gama – 500+ years ago Now en route to Port Elizabeth – This was a bit bumpy in the Agulhas Current, this night we were hit by lightening! Our first sighting of African Penguins. We saw birds at a distance and expected them to fly away. Instead, when we approached, they dove! Approaching Port Elizabeth, the water was now quite calm, the coastal scenery becoming beautiful. Docks at Port Elizabeth Yacht Club. To say the least they were dangerous. Look at the metal tab that went all the way around. If you touch that, it’s like “keying” your car. We had quite an experience with a local as well…Did I write about that in the Ship’s Blog? Port Elizabeth docks with rebar sticking out underwater Cape St. Francis Light – we had a nice day trip up here and to adjacent Geofrey’s Bay Cape St. Francis of the film “The Endless Summer” fame. Elephants are like goats in some areas. They truly mow the lawn Out of the bush Pressed rats and warthog….:-) Young female Kudu Meerkat on the lookout Big guy getting a bit close Closer! – we backed the car up. Amazing how these elephants can get lost in the bush Yeah, we thought he was dead too….BUT Keep watching….. He was napping and we were close…Shhh! Don’t want to wake this big boy up.
